Deptford Ragged School Heritage Trail

The trail is led by a young girl, Lizzie, the kind of child who attended the Deptford Ragged School in the 1800s. In turn she asks pupils to show her what the Deptford of the future, present day Deptford, looks like by creating their own map of 21st-century Deptford.

These learning resources have been produced in association the Deptford Ragged School Archive to support learning about local history in Deptford and the Deptford Ragged School. We recommend that teachers use this resource in association with their learning resources.

The Historic England Archive - Deptford High Street Local History Pack B (L20) can be used to help pupils learn even more about their local heritage and to help put ‘Lizzie’ into a broader chronological understanding of the area.
