Stained Glass at St Michael and All Angels, Harnhill
The COVID-19 Emergency Heritage at Risk Response Fund, part of the Culture Recovery Fund, was able to provide funding to churches in order to preserve the historic environment, as well as ensure continuing work for highly skilled conservation and construction professionals during the uncertain pandemic period.
St Michael and All Angels is a Grade II* listed Anglican church in Harnhill, Gloucestershire. Alongside a Norman Tympanum over the south door depicting St Michael slaying a dragon, the church has stained glass of Victorian design as well as medieval fragments in the east window.
The grant scheme was able to provide £25,000 to fund emergency repairs to the mullions, grills and stained glass to provide work for local specialist stonemasons and glaziers.
