Wheelhouse, Newby, North Yorkshire

This wheelhouse was built in the mid 19th century. It was for the Vyner estate of Newby Hall. It used 2 ponies harnessed inside to turn the wheel. This pumped up water from the River Ure that was used in the house and gardens at Newby Hall.
