Walburn Hall, Walburn, North Yorkshire

This fortified manor house was originally larger than the present farmhouse. It was built in the 15th and 16th centuries. The main living rooms were on the first rather than the ground floor. Mary Queen of Scots is also said to have stayed here. It was restored in the early 19th century by Timothy Hutton of Marske in Swaledale.
