Village Hall, Upleatham, Redcar and Cleveland

This building was originally the Parochial (Parish) School and was built in 1871. Upleatham Ironstone Mine opened in 1851. Between 1890 and 1905 large amounts of ironstone were mined from underneath the village. Over half the buildings in the village were lost due to subsidence. The school was one of the few buildings left standing in the village centre. It is now used as the village hall.
