Town Hall, Jarrow, Tyne and Wear

In October 1936 a band of unemployed workers marched from Jarrow to London. Much of the north was still affected by the Great Depression at the time, while in the south recovery had been swifter. The march focused attention to the problems present in northern industrial regions.
