Thomas Foster and family, The Barley Mow, Hellidon, Northamptonshire

Thomas Foster was the landlord of the Barley Mow public house in Hellidon at the turn of the 20th century. He is pictured here in 1900 with his wife and daughter. The long exposure of early photographs meant that any slight movement led to a distorted image, which accounts for the blurring around the head of Mr Foster's dog.
