The Synagogue, Middle Street, Brighton, Brighton and Hove
The Brighton Synagogue was designed by Thomas Lainson. It was built by Messrs Cheeseman for the Brighton Hebrew Congregation in 1874-5. The unusually rich interior of the synagogue reflects the popularity of Brighton as a holiday resort among Jewish people. Some of the elaborate fittings and stained glass were gifts of the Sassoon family.
