The Key House, High Street, Castle Donington, Leicestershire

The right front bay of this house is timber framed and dated 1636. The left bay is brick-built and dates from the 18th or 19th century, with the date 1899 on the front gable. The rear wing is partly of timber and partly of brick and was built in the 17th century. The porch is dated 1595. It is believed that the porch was originally from a house across the road and was added at a later date to this one, presumably when the opposite house was altered or demolished. This house was restored in the 20th century and the date 1953-81 appears on the right gable end. A key hangs beside each date, hence it's name as Key House.
