The Almsrooms (Wortley's Almshouses), Westgate, Peterborough

In 1744 Edward Wortley bought this building to convert into a parish workhouse. He was MP for Peterborough at this time. In 1837 the new Peterborough Union Workhouse was built on Thorpe Road. This building was then converted in to almshouses.
