Textile Mills, Macclesfield, Cheshire

These Macclesfield textile mills could exploit both road and rail links in order to get raw materials to the mills and distribute products. Many of Macclesfield's mills were involved in the silk trade in the 18th and early 19th century while there was a ban on continental imports. When this was lifted in the mid 19th century many of the town's silk mills were bankrupted.
