Sundridge Hospital, Church Road, Sundridge, Kent

The hospital was built as a workhouse very soon after the 1834 Poor Law Act. It is one of the earliest examples to survive as it was built. This workhouse is the only example known that still has its original infirmary wing. Workhouses were often the only place poor people could go for health care. When workhouses were abolished in the 1930s many became hospitals.
