St Michael's Gate, Gloucester, Gloucestershire

This is a 14th century pedestrian gateway in the former precinct wall of the Benedictine Abbey of St Peter (now the Cathedral). It has had many different names such as Gate to College Court, Upper College Gate and Cemetery Gate. The last relates to monastic times when this part of the close was the cemetery for the lay people.
