Prison Governor's House, Commercial Road, Hereford, Herefordshire
This building was the Prison Governor's House at Hereford County Gaol and House of Correction. It is all that remains of the goal. The gaol was built between 1792 and 1796 to the designs of John Nash. It cost between £18,000 and £21,000. The prison was closed in March 1915 and an order for its discontinuance was made on 28th December 1928. Most of the prison, with the exception of the governor's house (seen here), was demolished in 1930 by contractor Eli Pearson.
