Newarke Houses Museum, The Newarke, Leicester
This museum started off as two houses, Wgyston Chantry House and Skeffington House. The first was built in 1511 as a chantry house for two priests. It was paid for by William Wygston, Leicester’s richest citizen. Skeffington House is likely to have been built around 1583 by Sir Thomas Skeffington.
