Miners' Institute, St Agnes, Cornwall

During the late 19th and early 20th centuries a series of working men's institutions were built in mining areas, especially in the west of Cornwall. The St Agnes institute is one of 4 in Cornwall donated by the editor, social reformer and philanthropist John Passmore Edwards; note his initials above the door.
