Longtown Castle, Longtown, Herefordshire

This motte and bailey castle was built by the Normans to help control the Welsh border. Its circular keep was renewed in stone in the late 12th to early 13th century. The curtain walls are of a similar date. This property is now in the care of English Heritage (2010). Find out more.
