Literary and Scientific Institute, Devizes, Wiltshire

This Literary and Scientific Institute was originally built as a school in 1822. As well as a date, it has an inscription that reads "British Schools". British schools were part of the 'British and Foreign Schools Society' which was set up as a nonconformist charity (as opposed to Church of England schools).
