Former Barclay's Bank, Main Street, Cockermouth, Cumbria

This building is part of a group of listed buildings on the south side of Main Street. The former bank was built in the Georgian period and has since been a public house and hotel. Cockermouth developed as a typical medieval town with one main street. In the mid nineteenth century it was an industrial town with mills (wool, linen, cotton), hat factories and tanneries.
