Etal Castle Gatehouse, Etal, Northumberland

This gatehouse was built in the 14th century. It was added to an already existing castle. A Licence to Crenellate was granted by Edward III in 1342. It was given to the Lord of Etal (the Manners family). This property is now in the care of English Heritage (2010).
