Egyptian figures in the Crystal Palace, Sydenham, Greater London
These giant figures depicting the Egyptian pharaoh Rameses II dominated the Tropical transept at the north end of the Crystal Palace. They were copied from those carved from the rock at the entrance to the temple at Abu Simbel.
