Darwin House, Beacon Street, Lichfield, Staffordshire

The house was converted in 1758 from a medieval building. The house was restored for Erasmus Darwin (1731-1802). Erasmus Darwin was a doctor and a member of the Lunar Society whose researches into botany and zoology led him to explore a theory of evolution. He was the grandfather of Charles Darwin, who would later become the most famous scientist in the world.
