Darnley chest tomb, Church of St Lawrence, Bidborough, Kent

An elegant tomb or sarcophagus raised on stone blocks and decorated with scrolls. The main inscription commemorates Mary, Countess of Darnley, who died in 1803. She lived at a house called Great Bounds in Bidborough parish from 1790 until her death. She paid for a west gallery in the church "for the use of the children of the Sunday School".
