City Gate, Coventry, West Midlands

This scity gate was probably built in the early 1300s and possibly re built in the late 1300s. Records show that work on the adjoining city walls began in 1352 or 1355 and a licence to crenellate was granted in 1363, the work was to be complete by 1385. It is the only remaining functional gate in the city.
