Bristol Grammar School, University Road, Bristol

The Grammar School was established in 1532 at St Bartholomew’s Hospital near the bottom of Christmas Steps. lt remained there for over two hundred years. The school moved to this site in 1879. The first building was the Great Hall which was originally a teaching room and still has the Masters’ stalls in place. It was designed by Foster and Wood. Two further blocks were added in 1909 and 1914. All of these buildings are designed in Gothic style.
