Arsenic Calciner, Chacewater, Cornwall
This is the ruins of an arsenic calciner from around 1908. This is the best surviving example of an arsenic processing system which used a series of 40 condensing chambers. The arsenic was first heated in a kiln to drive off water, volatiles and sulphur and was eventually reduced to a powder.
