Tyntesfield, Wraxall, Bristol BS48 1NX

Large country house built in 1813 for John Seymour and bought by William Gibbs in 1843. The Gibbs family built their fortune on the trade of guano, a fertiliser made from South American sea bird droppings. William Gibbs extensively remodelled the house from simple regency style to High Victorian Gothic style. The house has survived with almost all its Victorian fittings and still retains much of its original hot-air heating and ventilation system.
