St Francis, Gorton Lane, Gorton, Manchester, Greater Manchester M12 5WF

Former Roman Catholic church with attached monastic building, 1864-72 by E. W. Pugin for the Order of St Francis and considered one his finest masterpieces. Once included on the World Monuments Fund 100 most endangered sites, the building has been extensively restored and now operates as an events venue and sanctuary.

Opening Arrangements

Open 10am-4pm Sunday to Thursday, including café and gift shop. An hour of silent meditation is held at 12 noon. Private hire available after 4pm and on Friday and Saturday. Please see the Monastery website for more details of public events and activities.
