Church of St John the Divine, 10 Railway Street, Chatham, Kent ME4 4JL

Built under the Church Building Act of 1818 and opened in 1821 as a Commissioners (or Waterloo) church, by Sir Robert Smirke. Note the apse is by GM Hills, 1863 . Important to the military and maritime history of Chatham and also now one of the few remaining heritage buildings within Chatham town centre. Neoclassical doric style with a tower, exterior of rock-faced limestone ashlar and dressings with a hipped slate roof: Italianate in style.

Opening Arrangements

St John's Chatham is OPEN each Monday and Thursday from 12 to 2pm. This is in addition to Sunday morning and evening services. An increased number of Community events are taking place at St John’s which can be viewed via the calendar on the website https://www.stjohnschatham.co.uk/calendar/
