Anfield Cemetery North and South Catacombs, Anfield

Anfield Cemetery North and South Catacombs, Anfield, Liverpool, L4 2SL

A pair of Grade II listed catacombs, which flanked the former Anglican chapel. Built by Lucy and Littler as part of the original cemetery design, both are constructed of local red sandstone and originally had a slate roof which has been lost. Each is of nine bays with a buttressed arcade along the east and west elevations which house memorial plaques. The catacombs underwent restoration work in 2018 to prevent any further deterioration, but have no current plans for future use, having lost their roof structures. They are presently managed as standing ruins.
