Strachey, Ray

Ray Strachey, Rachel Conn Costelloe, Mrs Oliver Strachey (1887-1940), women's rights' campaigner and writer, with a mathematics degree from Newnham College, Cambridge 1905-1908, she studied engineering at Oxford University, 1910. President of the Society of Women Welders 1916-1918. Particularly involved in women's employment issues including equal pay. Stood as an Independent in three general elections, 1918, 1922, and 1923.
