Description

Construction of the new cathedral took place between the mid-1950s and 1962 with the foundation laying ceremony being carried out by Queen Elizabeth II on 23 March 1956. This photograph taken to show progress on construction of the new cathedral, was from the spire of the Cathedral Church of St Michael.

This image was catalogued as part of the Breaking New Ground Project in partnership with the John Laing Charitable Trust in 2019-20.
