Description

This material has not yet been fully catalogued. Copyright, date, and quantity information for this record may be incomplete or inaccurate.

The collection contains 194 postcards posted between 1911 and 1931 and likely to have been printed between 1900 and about 1970. They were given to the NMR by Colin Williams.

The views are primarily of popular holiday destinations but unusually they include views of Beachy Head and lighthouse, interiors of Woolwich Arsenal munitions factory, and Allied troops victory march in front of Buckingham Palace in 1919. Eastbourne is particularly well represented in the collection.

The postcards are primarily black and white or colour tinted. Three only (numbers 88-90) are taken from colour photographs.

A handlist is available.

Archival History
