The collection contains 335 prints produced mostly by commercial photograph agencies between 1950 and 1975.

Many of the images relate to famous heritage sites, mainly country houses and castles, and various miscellaneous ceremonies and folk events. Of particular interest are photographs of Marconi Co premises and transmitter masts in Chelmsford, Essex; early radio and BBC broadcasting studios, transmitters & equipment; lighthouses and lifeboats with a few views of underwater archaeology; motorway and road construction; inn and public house signs; bell-ringers; and sculptors, sculpture & other artistic subjects.

Archival History

The collection was probably compiled by a commercial photographic agency but the identity of this is unknown.

The collection was purchased by the NMR from Clive Rogers in 2006. Mixed reproduction rights within the collection means that checking is required before anything from the collection is published.
