Description

The collection consists of 44 colour photographic prints documenting collieries and mine workings in Staffordshire, Warwickshire and Derbyshire. Sites covered are: Tower Hill Colliery, Newpool, Stoke on Trent; Baddesley Colliery, Nuneaton, Warwickshire; Wolstanton Colliery, Wolstanton, Stoke on Trent; Sneyd Colliery, Burslem; Norton Colliery, Small Thorne, Stoke on Trent; Victoria Colliery, Biddulph, Stoke on Trent; Magpie Head Mine, Sheldon, Derbyshire; and a small number of unidentified buildings.

The photographs were taken by Nigel Chapman between 1979 and 1987. They were subsequently given to the National Buildings Record in the late 1980s. The quality of the images is generally fair, although a couple are out of focus.

The whereabouts of the original negatives is not known.
