Lostock Hall, Lostock, Greater Manchester

The gatehouse of the former Lostock Hall. Lostock Hall was built in 1563. It was partly demolished about 1816 and finally disappeared in 1903. The gatehouse stood to the East of the hall. It is a stone building of three stories with a staircase tower at its NW corner. The gateway was built up and a wooden doorway inserted for use as a private residence. Over a second floor window is a panel bearing the Royal Arms of Elizabeth and the date 1590.
