Kickstart Placements at Historic England

Historic England is pleased to be offering Kickstart placements throughout 2021. These placements will give young people a chance to gain valuable experience in a work environment while exploring the amazing career opportunities available in the heritage sector. To be eligible for a placement, you must be between the ages of 16 and 24 and registered for Universal Credit.

Business Support Officer (x1)

Acting as lead representative for this scheme you will be representing Historic England to provide the steering to a group of Kickstart peers from across the heritage sector coordinating the delivery of the Cross Organisational Partnership research programme. This role would suit an individual with a passion for youth engagement and looking for their first project management experience.

This role is to provide support to assist in the in the update of the current contact details that are stored in different formats (mostly in excel, word and through Outlook) - following the corporate contacts database being disabled. These will need to be brought together in one place, checked and updated through a combination of online research and contacting internal and external stakeholders. You will also carry out a small research project into customer or client relationship management (CRM) systems.

The placement would include: researching and designing a fit for purpose photo filing system that is easy for staff to use. The system would need to be compatible with existing HE photo filing protocols. It would also provide a valuable learning opportunity as photographs would need to be reviewed and tagged – giving the apprentice a chance to learn about different asset types and the varying local areas that make up the Midlands.

Media Assistant

As a Media Assistant at Historic England you’ll help us tell the world about the vital work we are doing to champion and protect our nation’s most cherished heritage. Working with both our national and regional communications teams you’ll get the opportunity to help write and pitch stories to national, regional and local media. As the SRS Coordinator you would provide administrative support across the range of work streams within Sector Resilience and Skills. Contributing to updates on the Historic England website. You would also have the opportunity to contribute to some research and analysis, and provide feedback on this, through short reports or presentations.
